Honoring America’s 250th Anniversary + The Legacy of America’s Favorite Pastime

Kick off Spring Training 2026 with a race that honors the legacy of our nation and the sport that has shaped generations. Join the City of Surprise and Surprise Stadium for the 8th Annual Spring Training 5K & 1K Fun Run, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and the enduring tradition of baseball.


Runners will move through the spring training home of the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals, taking in the energy and character that come with a true ballpark setting. This year’s event puts a spotlight on the role baseball has played in shaping our community and the legacy we continue to grow here in Surprise.

All participants will receive a Spring Training Race t-shirt, a finisher's medal and a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE lawn seat voucher(available at Packet Pick-Up) to any remaining 2026 Spring Training game at Surprise Stadium.

Race Day Information

  • Race Day Check In and Registration will be available beginning at 6:00pm at Surprise Stadium.

    • We accept cash, check, and credit card on race day.  Race day prices are:

      • 5K - $40

      • 1K - $20

    • All shirts sizes may not be available on race day (please register online before race day to guarantee your shirt size choice).

  • Wheelchair and stroller.

    • All wheelchairs, stollers, and leashed pets must start at the back of the start line coral.

      • All participants are chipped time, so your time will not be affected by starting at the back of the coral.  Your  time will not start until you cross the start line.

  • Please no pets at this event.

  • Due to the common start/finish line there will be no bag check for this event.

Event Schedule

  • March 5th 5:00PM -  Packet Pick-Up at Surprise Stadium from 5:00 - 7:00pm

  • March 6th 6:00PM -  Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up Opens

  • March 6th 7:00PM -  5K Begins

  • March  6th 7:15PM -  1K Fun Run Begins

  • March 6th 8:00PM -  Award Ceremony Begins (approx)
